Sport Business Chain are honoured to present the partnership with FC Universitatea Cluj, a prestigious football club recently promoted to the Romanian second tier. Having embarked on a transformational quest, FC Universitatea Cluj have adopted the socio ownership model, currently being the club with the highest number of active members (over 1,300).
Their club culture identifies with the university spirit and youth performance, focussing on two key areas. First, FC Universitatea Cluj contribute significantly to the development of their football academy and the promotion of players from within. Secondly, they are a great example of forward-thinkers, reflecting the way a football club should be run in 2018: keen on embracing digital transformation, investing in stellar fan experiences and bonding with the community. Thus, we are delighted to welcome FC Universitatea Cluj at Sport Business Chain conference on 28-30 September, an event whose objectives are to capitalise on the previously-mentioned areas, and help sport organisations across Eastern Europe become aware of the needs and expectations of the current sport business landscape.
Another common angle we are targeting through this partnership is the willingness to promote sport among the young generations as an enticing job sector. FC Universitatea Cluj has had a long history of empowering youth through education and creating development opportunities for the young generations. Thus, the club will support Sport Business Chain by opening up a 30-day internship position put forward in one of the Marketing, Media or Hospitality departments. The role is dedicated to a young sport enthusiast eager to gain work experience, develop her/his skill-set, and learn key insights into the professional football world.
Mihai Moga, Brand Manager at FC Universitatea Cluj, commented on the partnership: ‘The club is looking to expand its horizons, reaching new fans in new markets by offering a true success story built upon on a century old tradition of football and by creating new and immersive brand experiences. The partnership with Sport Business Chain and the internship position we are opening for young sport enthusiasts follows this goals, in our quest to take FC Universitatea Cluj to the next level both in business and in sports.’
Radu Constantea, President of FC Universitatea Cluj, also commented: ‘Both by tradition and by the current status, our club belongs to the community, so everything we do is for the community, for the people of Cluj. In order to meet their hopes and dreams, we must stay ahead of our competition. The partnership with Sport Business Chain does just that, it keeps us in front and in touch with everything new in the business of sports’.
Teodora Busurca, Co-Founder of Sport Business Chain, stated that: ‘I am extremely happy to see this partnership with such an esteemed football club taking shape, and more than proud to see FC Universitatea Cluj paving the way for a sustainable football culture in Eastern Europe, where home-grown players are developed not only as football players, but also as individuals, and fans and the wider community are interactively involved at each step.’ ‘Moreover, the internship position they are opening for young sport enthusiasts shows their desire to challenge the status quo, invest in the next generations of sport leaders and open the doors to a new wave of potential FC Universitatea Cluj team members‘ says Cosmin Albu, Co-Founder of Sport Business Chain.
