Volunteer Infograph: Meet Victor

Can you briefly introduce yourself?

Hello, my name is Victor Voicu. I come from Constanta, Romania. At the moment I live in Bucharest. I’ve built my career around the sports marketing industry, where I have gained valuable and in depth knowledge regarding the sports business, offline & online marketing, endorsement contracts, partnership and sponsorship.

What made you want to get involved in Sport Business Chain?

I think there is a need in the market for these kind of events that will be a real help for any athlete or sport business enthusiast that want to step-in into the next level stage.

What is your main expectation from volunteering at SBC and the SBC conference itself?

For me, in this industry networking is very important and it will be a real pleasure to talk to other sport business professionals, learn from them and maybe work together with them on different subjects/projects in the future. Speaking about the SBC conference I really wish that we’ll bring real valuable information and knowledge to people and also motivate them to do a greater job day by day.

What is one sport experience that you have been part and you will always remember as a sport fan?

I will always remember the friendly game between Romania and Argentina where I have been part of the organizational and marketing team of the event. Meeting Leo Messi, shaking hands with him, was something very special and more than sure a moment that I will talk to my grandchildren about 🙂

What do you consider to be the first most important thing you would change in the way sport business is done in Romania – something that, if implemented, would initiate the development of sport as a whole?

First of all, I would wish that all sporting organisations start acting and thinking like a real business in terms of both short and long term objectives, with a major focus on the marketing field, an area that has a major impact on the sport industry, nowadays more than ever.

What do you consider to be your top 3 skills?

Creativity, strategic thinking and self-motivation.

What’s your proudest career moment?

The launching marketing campaign of Carmen Bucharest and reaching the final stage of a UEFA interview for their marketing department, both in 2017.

What is your favourite sportsman and sportswoman?

Anthony Joshua and Simona Halep, both amazing athletes, and David Beckham for the marketer inside me. 🙂

What is one sport leader you admire and why?

Ion Tiriac, whose career after retirement has been amazing, and who should be an example for everyone, and Gheorghe Hagi, very inspiring, top performance on and off the field (as a player and manager).

Can you name a sport club / team / organisation from Eastern Europe that you think:

  1. Rocks at social media: Romanian National Football Team
  2. Does a great job at engaging with fans: Carmen Bucharest
  3. Is an example of generating effective sponsorship deals: Viitorul Constanta

If you were to build your own sport-related business, what core focus would it have?

Sponsorship consultancy. Teaching clubs how to get better deals and companies how to take true advantage of their sponsorship contracts.

What’s the one app you open most frequently on your phone?

Facebook, Instagram and Clear, in this order 🙂

Victor, welcome to the #SBCTeam!
